Wind Farms in Perthshire - a serious page
There is a still a big wind problem in Perthshire no doubt to the fact that there's plenty of hot air and old farts down at the council. The lack of windfarms is still big in the news but no doubt the Scottish Executive will eventually step in and force the issue.
Councillor Hulbert has stated "Individuals do not have a right to block developments just because it affects their community". Well they seem to have done a pretty good job so far to keep development away from Perthshire!!

The Courier reports that plans for five wind farms have been thrown out by Perth and Kinross council which now makes the area the only one without a wind farm or an approved plan.
There are now fears that as a result of objections or rejections to 16 separate planning applications for wind farms, that the Scottish Executive could soon step in. Perth and Kinross has a 100% refusal rate for wind farm applications - what the hell is going on in this area?
We say the sooner the Scottish Executive step in the better.
In times when climate change should be high on everyones agenda, what gives Perth and Kinross the right to say - it's not our problem.
The arrogance of Dave Morris, director of Ramblers’ Association Scotland, is beyond belief. He said “This is a great decision on the day that the government launches its energy review. The message to our Holyrood and Westminster politicians could not be clearer, the people of Scotland do not want these monster turbines and pylons imposed on our world famous landscapes.”
Where would Mr Morris suggest these farms go - anywhere as long as it's not here? We believe this to be an ignorant, arrogant and very stupid attitude to a very serious issue. This man really is divorced from reality.
These world famous landscapes need protecting from climate change the same as everywhere else. The Perthshire economy is heavily dependent on tourism which is already seriously threatened by global warming.
Not only would these wind farms projects help save the planet, they would also create employment, wealth and community schemes.
Wind turbines are not an eyesore, they are not dangerous and a more welcome sight than the millions of telecommunications masts that are springing up everywhere.
Wonderful quote from Green Party MSP Mark Ruskell:
“Perth and Kinross councillors have today confirmed their reputation for burying their heads in the sand and wishing that wind farms and climate change were not a reality that they need to take responsible decisions on.”
He added, “With this blanket opposition to every wind farm proposal put before them councillors are now rubbishing their own locational strategy for wind farms.”
Perth and Kinross Council are incredibly stupid and need to rethink their strategies and quickly. If you want to play on a global stage than you have to be seen to be addressing issues that have a global impact.
Everyone has a part to play there should be no opt out clause.
