Congratulations to Dundee whose local authority has been awarded £8.5 million from the cities growth fund.
Vibrant Thriving Multicultural Dundee
Perth and Kinross councillors have thrown their toys out of the pram because they want a share. Dundee Council obviously think the same as the rest of the most of Scotland in that Perth is not worth investing in and of course IT'S NOT A CITY!!
Dundee is a thriving vibrant forward thinking city that encourages new businesses, new people and really does understand the term 'welcomes the world'.
Perth Town is a place that does not showcase Scotland well.
You know what they say - What goes around comes around!!
Dundee West MSP Kate Maclean said, “The cities fund is to be spent for the benefit for the wider area. The Scottish Executive has agreed to the waterfront plans, which will benefit the wider area.
“Opponents who are moaning and whining about the way the money is to be spent show a distinct lack of vision. They cannot perceive it will benefit the region and not just the people of Dundee.”
Dundee City Council’s administration leader Jill Shimi described the attack on the waterfront by the SNP in Perth and Angus as “mean-spirited” and “wholly misplaced,” and accused the SNP of being parochial in ideology and action.
“I am unashamed to say that Labour stands up for Dundee and the interests of everyone who lives, works and studies in the city.
“This is in stark contrast to the SNP when they were in charge of Tayside Regional Council when they blatantly asset-stripped funds from Dundee and reallocated them across Angus and Perthshire.
Looks like the SNP will eventually kill the Perthshire area off creating only farming wasteland with little else for either visitor or the local economy. We have pursued this philosophy for a few months now (and been excommunicated in the process) and at last it seems we have uncovered the problem behind Perthshire and its outdated political viewpoints. Perth Town has been totally left behind by the rest of Scotland and issues such as the above only prove our point. You only have to visit the other developing cites of Scotland to see how right we are. Perth Town itself has an identity crisis to face head on - either flog the dead horse of a tourist industry or decide to build housing and become prosperous commuter belt for the large developing cities surrounding the area.
