We now have a copy of the Perth and Kinross Council Lifestyle magazine and CD Rom that was meant to impress the delegates of the G8 summit at Gleneagles, Perthshire 2005.
First impressions reveal nothing more than a tourist brochure and not a great one at that. No issues regarding the G8 and nothing of interest to delegates attending the G8 summit. Obviously the council needed a new tourist brochure to promote the dying tourism industry in Perthshire so disguised it under the umbrella of a magazine for G8 delegates in order to scrape together the advertising costs from local businesses. It is impossible to find a decent article amongst the vast collection of all too familiar adverts. Already overused stock photography from the tourist board and council which the agency responsible for producing the magazine have managed to oversaturate. Another example of bleeding the economy dry for the good people of Perth. Get rid of Perth & Kinross council now!
We daren't mention the quality of the CD so as not to offend the interactive cd rom company from Glasgow. Lazy design, thin content and low quality video - Oh dear! Looks like you blew this one big style boyz just make sure the council pay you.
No professional design agency would have let this quality of work go out of the door and put their name to it. The only quality about the publication is the printing and that was done by Woods of Perth and not Print Squared as stated on the magazine - give credit where credit is due!
Perth and Kinross council had a major opportunity to impress the world leaders and world media, instead they reinforced the message that the Perthshire area has nice trees and hills, a cute litle town but that the area has a long way to go to before it catches up with the rest of the UK. Certainly not a place to consider relocating your business to.
Take a Pride in Perthshire - The Perth and Kinross Council have none.
