Fat men with fat necks in suits scathing of Geldof's repeated calls for a million people to come to Edinburgh, saying: "Bob Geldof is indulging in irresponsible gesture politics of the worst kind. In the interests of public safety, he should put up his hands, acknowledge he has made an error of judgment and call his demonstration off." What planet is fatman on?
Every single day 30,000 children die as a result of extreme poverty. In our so called civilised world this is an absolute disgrace and we should all be ashamed if we sit back, do nothing and let it carry on. In a world of plenty almost one out of seven persons is suffering from hunger.
What a case of double standards. It seems that Perth and Kinross Council and Edinburgh Council think nothing of wasting hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers money given to fat cat agencies (now there's definite case of the kings new clothes) to produce pathetic logos and tourism brochures but object to legitimate protests about extreme poverty that claims millions of lives every year.
Indeed Perth and Kinross council see the G8 as nothing more than an opportunity to promote tourism. Wake up - you don't know what is going to hit area!
The pathetic attempts to convince us that all will be well may just be in vain once all the anarchists and protesters arrive in the area. The erection of flimsy mesh fences around Gleneagles does not instill confidence and even if they were wired to the national grid they would be little defense against any serious terrorist threat.
At the end of the G8 there is a strong possibility that Perthshire will be the last place that any tourist will want to visit.
