The tarring and feathering is now complete - funny though that only one company were selected for expulsion. Seems there's one rule for them and another for us!!!
The Perthshire Chamber of Commerce held a board meeting in their honour on Monday 27th June. The purpose of the meeting was to consider awarding them the Perthshire League of Gentlemen award. This is a local town for local people!
They have been expelled from the Chamber ‘on the grounds that their conduct renders them unfit to be a member’.
Their crime was objecting to the councils policy of awarding lucrative contracts to companies outside of the Perthshire area. They requested a meeting with the Chamber to discuss this policy and ask for their help. What did they do? They closed ranks and encouraged some of their ‘friends’ to slate them in the press and a free rag that circulates around the area.
It seems however that in Perthshire it is one rule for one and one rule for another.
The Business Manager from the Chamber was even stupid enough to lie in writing - we have that evidence and will publish shortly.
In a letter dated 20th May 2005 signed by Marilyn Wallace on behalf of the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce it was stated that:
‘At a meeting on 11th March 2005 (prompted by complaints made to the Board) and attended by you, Bill Duncan, the President of the Chamber, Gordon Bannerman and Marilyn Wallace…’
LIE - .The meeting was as a result of a direct request from us asking Mr Duncan for a meeting to discuss lucrative council contracts being tendered out of the area. We have the emails to Mr Duncan to prove it!
You claim that they were critical of other chamber members and yet you took no action against these other members who were responsible for critical remarks about them personally and about their business both in the press and other free publications.
You are indeed a very hypocritical two faced organisation.
Unfortunately for you, more people will see this website than read the dreadful Chamber News or the other publications used by your members to criticise us!!
…….and the Chamber of Commerce dare to say that their conduct renders us unfit for membership!
They are honoured to be expelled by such a dreadful and underhanded organisation, who in our opinion are unfit to use the name chamber of commerce. They should be prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act!!
