Guide to Perthshire and Scotland - information for visitors and businesses

Farewell to Scotland - A warning to visitors and new businesses

Record numbers of Scots are fleeing their homeland and emigrating for a better life abroad with most of them bound for Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Others are heading to England, Wales or Northern Ireland - things must be bad!

The main reasons - Scotlands miserable weather, loutish behaviour, high crime rate, pollution, unaffordable housing and low pay.

More than 1.5 million Scots have left since 1980 with emigration experts claiming numbers are rising sharply.

Official figures show that 70,000 Scots a year are leaving the country.

The Lonely Planets Guide to Scotland

Well known tourist traps branded tacky, embarrassing or just plain boring

Firstly the latest information regarding Scotland in the lonely Planet Guide is written by Neil Wilson from Edinburgh.

Mr Wilson states is this latest edition of the guide that SCOTLAND needs to work harder to attract tourists and not rely on Edinburgh's international reputation to draw visitors in. He also states that cheap flights to other more exciting destinations has created tough competition.

Now excuse us but isn't this exactly the point we have been trying to make?

So for all of you not interested- hop aboard........................

.... and take a journey to join up with Visit Scotland, Pride and Passion, local tourist boards, local councillors etc on their other planet!!

Highlights of the report:

Perthshire wasn't worthy of a mention

John o'Groats was described as Scotland's worst and most embarrassing tourist trap with the main attraction being basically a car park surrounded by shoddy craft and souvenir shops

Montrose - austere and down-at-heel atmosphere

Balmoral - pointless and a bore

Edinburgh and Glasgow - great cities especially Glasgow which 'Combines urban mayhem, black humour and most of all a delicious sense of fun'

Dundee - 'got a glowing report with 'perhaps the finest location of any Scottish city and the locals are among the friendliest you will meet'.

You could of course........
