Others before have voiced strong opinions to us regarding the lack of useful small business advice they receive from those in authority here. Perthshire has an economic problem like no other in Scotland. The wealth divide here is quite obscene to stomach sometimes. Combine this together with a little paranoia, job insecurities and fear of the unknown and we have a major problem in our supposedly tranquil environment.

Do we care? Why do we bother? For the record our lifestyle does not rely upon having to support the local economy whatsoever or in having to deal with any other local companies. In fact if Perthshire's economy was to collapse tomorrow it wouldn’t matter to our business – we simply don’t need Perthshire to live in Perthshire. But that doesn't mean we don't support small quality businesses that are located here. In fact quite the opposite is true.

We do care about a healthy economy here because of the majority of people who do have to live and work here and the kids who are growing up in an environment that they totally refuse to identify with. In having a forward thinking nature and an interest in economies further a field it is possible to make a lot of money and sustain a blissful lifestyle living here in Perthshire.

Whilst Perthshire continues to struggle, scoring its own goals training youngsters for the lowest paid jobs of any industry in the UK, the rest of the world continues to march on offering nicer weather and more choice of things to see and do.

Running a business successfully these days requires careful planning, hard work, vision and taking a few risks every now again. Falling in line is definitely no way forward for an entrepreneur to make money. We have developed our business from nothing into a successful money spinner that pays the mortgage.
