Perthshire is situated in Scotlands central belt. It is ideally situated between all of Scotlands six major cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Stirling, Aberdeen and Inverness.

There are plenty of attractions, which will be covered in more detail through out this site as it develops.

The Lonely planet guide recently had the following to say about our major cities.

Edinburgh and Glasgow - great cities especially Glasgow which 'Combines urban mayhem, black humour and most of all a delicious sense of fun'

Dundee - perhaps the finest location of any Scottish city and the locals are among the friendliest you will meet. Dundee is a little further up the A9. There are no major landmarks or cities on the way to it.

Most peoples first encounter of Perthshire will be via Stirling famous for its castle and day trips to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs. Stirling is a vibrant place and is one of Scotlands most famous cities. A day out to the castle is well worth a visit.

If traveling to Perthshire via rail we suggest Auchterarder is your priority stop. It is a small friendly town, most famous for the Gleneagles hotel and golf course. Check with your rail network on trains that stop at Gleneagles Station. There is plenty of accommodation and Perthshires better scenery is located here and easier to get to. Auchterarder also benefits from excellent location being on the A9, which therefore only means 1 hours drive to Glasgow or Edinburgh. It therefore makes an ideal central location for exploring the area.
